Where kids are free to have fun and experience Jesus

9:00 am Sunday Service | Birth – 5th Grade | Check-in starting at 8:45 am

11:00 am Sunday Service | Baby & Toddler Room ONLY (Birth – 3yo)

UR Kids is a child and family-focused ministry of the Urban Refuge. We strive to help kids experience Christ while empowering parents to connect with their children as they walk together on their family's faith journey.

Baby and Toddler Rooms
(Birth-3)

Our Baby Nursery is our UR Kids first stop. We have many caring volunteers who are ready to welcome and care for the littlest of babies with lots of love. Babies are sung to, read to, and prayed over.

Once your child gets bigger, they graduate to the toddler room! Toddlers learn by exploration. And we have a safe place for them to do just that! In our Toddler Room, 2 and 3 year olds will learn about God’s great big world around them through climbing, sliding, creating, giggling, pretending, singing and dancing.

PreK (4’s & 5’s)

Mr. Rogers says that for children, “play is serious learning.” Our 4 and 5 year old kids have plenty of time for their rapidly growing brains to learn about the love of Jesus through play. The PreK class is designed to balance open-ended, sensory rich, free play time with Biblical truth through curriculum videos, puppets, activities, and songs.

Kindergarten-5th Grade

There are over 300 Sundays from the time a child enters Kindergarten to when they graduate from our UR Kids classes in 5th grade. We make sure that we are using every one of those Sundays to point the kids towards Jesus through the chronological Gospel Project curriculum, activities with their peers, games, worship, and crafts. We want church to be a place where kids know they are loved & valued, believe that they have a role to play in God’s big story, and have lots of fun.

What your K-5th Grader can expect

Kindergarten through 5th Graders will start off the service altogether for a kid-friendly worship experience in the lower-level fellowship hall. They’ll then be split into smaller classes by grades to learn about, discuss, and apply the week’s Bible story. K-4th grade students can be picked up from their classrooms, and 5th graders can self-dismiss.

Additional FAQs

  • Our volunteers all go through an application, a reference check, and take Sexual Abuse Prevention Training. All volunteers agree to follow our “Volunteer Code of Conduct.”

  • If you’ve been attending for a while, we’d love to have you jump in and help out! Most adults with kids in UR Kids serve once per month. Some roles require some prep, and for other roles you just show up!

  • At Urban Refuge, we use the Gospel Project for Kids. This curriculum has a chronological study plan that unites the big story and themes of scripture. Jesus is at the center of every Bible lesson.

  • Every child is unique so every child’s needs will be different. Please contact Katie, our Family Life Director, with more information about your family so that the best plan can be made.
