One of the main messages that we would like to communicate at our weekend service is our need as a church to bring Shalom to the city. Maybe you're asking “What is Shalom?” The common translation for Shalom is the word "peace". However, it’s broader than that. Shalom refers to peace in all areas of one's life, so this entails physical, mental and of course spiritual.
Now, not only do we want to communicate the need to bring shalom to the city at our weekend service but our main hope is to experience shalom as a community at the service. A few ways we do this is by singing together, learning together and just being together.
The teachings bring shalom because they give us direction for life.
The music brings shalom because it heals and expresses our need for a savior.
Community brings shalom because it reminds us that we are not alone.
Try our weekend services for a few weeks and see if you experience shalom for yourself.
Seems like society has made kids out to be something that just needs to be tolerated. However, when you read the Bible you find that Jesus had a special place for them in his heart and used them as examples often.
Matthew 18:3 "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 19:13 "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
“For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these?” Wow, that's a big statement; and it’s one we don't take it lightly. We believe our Promiseland Kids Program volunteers 'get' what Jesus was talking about when He made those statements. We aim to include children as part of the whole by having families worship together at the start of our service while recognizing their need to learn about God at a level they can digest and allowing them to be kids during our Promiseland Kids Program during the message portion of the service. Ultimately, our hope is that our church will be a place that builds shalom within your family.
