Everyone needs strong relationships. Families, neighborhoods, schools and communities used to be a reliable source for providing a healthy network of relationships. Today, these support systems are in distress. Broken families are commonplace. Neighbors tend to keep to themselves. Schools are less safe. People uproot frequently. The result is that the need for meaningful relationships has never been felt more acutely. This is where Urban Refuge small groups come in.
Small groups are a vital part of the larger Urban Refuge community. A small group is like having your own family within the larger church. Groups are made up of 10-20 people who get together in members' homes, or at the church, several times a month. In a small group you participate in relevant biblical discussions that will help you grow in your relationship with God. This happens as you learn together how to apply the teachings of the Bible to your daily living. You also develop close friendships as you spend time “doing life” together.

a season together
Each year, for the months of September and October, we usually embark on a 6 to 8 week small group discussion that is driven by the weekend teachings and complimented by a book. We have found these times to be very powerful for our congregation as we focus together on a particular thought or topic for a season.
growing Deeper
After taking a short break over Thanksgiving and Christmas, our small groups start up again in early January with their own group specific topics, or may fall along with the weekend teaching, digging into God’s Word together. Small groups either meet every week, or every other, until they wrap up by the end of May to take a break through the summer months.
