What kind of church is The Urban Refuge?
We are a contemporary, nondenominational, evangelical Christian church. We are affiliated with Great Commission Association and the Willow Creek Association of Churches. Our vision is to attract others to Christ in all that we do. That vision fills every aspect of our programs and ministry so that you experience it in ways that are tangible, practical and meaningful.
Does The Urban Refuge have more than one location?
Yes! The Urban Refuge is a part of Evergreen Community Church. There are five locations throughout the Twin Cities-- Evergreen-Lakeville, Evergreen-West, Evergreen-Bloomington, The Rock and The Urban Refuge. The three Evergreens have a contemporary format and a casual style, meeting the needs of families and singles. The Rock is twenty-something church meeting in Uptown Minneapolis that is designed to meet the needs of students, young couples and singles. Although we meet in five different locations throughout the Twin Cities, Evergreen is just one church. We operate according to the same church by-laws, are financially supported as one organization and all members become members of the same church. We chose this strategy to keep our leadership team together, maximize office efficiency and create a greater sense of unity in our mission to reach the Twin Cities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What is a small group?
Small groups are one of the most vital functions of the church. In small groups people have the chance to meet each other’s needs as they develop relationships. It’s easy to get involved in an Urban Refuge small group. You can visit the information table at the weekend service to pick up a brochure listing open groups or contact the office at 612-33-URBAN.
How can I become a member?
Church membership is an important step for any growing Christian. We offer a new member seminar held periodically throughout the year that covers the history, philosophy and strategy of The Urban Refuge, your purpose in life, your personal walk with God as well as basic Christian principles. God wants you to be involved with the greatest and most fulfilling work on this earth, and that work is taking place in the church! This seminar will give you an opportunity to become a member in God’s church and become united with other believers as we pursue God’s will together, growing in our faith and impacting our world.
How do I obtain a recording of the messages?
All teachings are recorded and available from our media library. Reviewing past messages reinforces what you’ve already heard and can help you grow in your spiritual life.
