Small Groups

Look below to locate a group that meets on a day that works for you. If you have interest in the group, go ahead and call or e-mail the leader to learn more about the group and its availability. If you decide to join their group, just pass on your contact information and join them at their next gathering.


Mixed (married or single)

 

1.  UR Women's Small Group

Every Other Sunday, 12:00 PM, S Mpls      

This women's group meets every other Sunday after church in one of two nearby homes. Our group is open to women of all ages and life stages, and there is a good mix of those with and without children, and children are welcome. We spend equal parts of the time together having lunch, reviewing that week's message or bible study, and taking prayer requests.

2.  God’s Adventurers       

3x/Month, Sunday, 1:30 PM, Richfield

Walking with God is an adventure! Our group is for people who want to talk about what God is doing in their life. If you are not sure what God is doing that’s okay as we’ll explore together. We will have a mix of discussing sermons, our God times, social times and serving. All are welcome!

3.  Hall's Group       

Every Sunday, 2:00 PM, Richfield

This casual small group will meet to talk about the day's message. Those in all stages of life and journey with the Lord, from single to empty-nesters, are welcome. We are kid friendly, but no child care will be provided (We are open to a conversation about how to care for children). The Lord calls us to fellowship and this group will seek to pursue the Lord together through the joys and challenges of this life.

4.  Genius Giving Group       

Every Sunday, 5:00 PM, S Mpls

Are you relatively new to Urban? Or is it your first time participating in a small group? We'd love for you to join us! We will start the year by discussing The Genius of Generosity, where we'll focus on how to be more generous with our time, talents, and money. men will meet one week, women one week, and we'll complete a service project monthly. A light meal will be provided.

5.  Rollerson's Group      

1st & 3rd Sundays, 5:00 PM, Little Canada         

Our study time will be a mix video studies, conversation about the sermons, book studies with a focus on specific scripture texts. A solid time will be spent in personal and group prayer. We will have occasional potluck meals. All studies will be done in light of understanding multi-ethnic ministry and life. All are welcome. We are kid friendly, but no child care will be provided (We are open to a conversation about how to care for children). We are open to others hosting.

Rewired

Every Other Wednesday, 11:00 AM, Bloomington

Rewired is a new small group designed to connect and build friendships among semi or fully retired friends at The Urban Refuge. We'll meet at Baker's Square in Bloomington (near 98th St and Lyndale Ave) for lunch and conversation. Topics will vary, either discussing the previous weekend's sermon or a topic participants choose.

7.  Connect Together      

Various-Sundays*, 6:00 -7:30 PM, Urban Refuge

Coming for a while but don't feel connected?  New to the Urban Refuge?  Our group has a passion to connect with one another, our church community, and with Christ.  *We'll meet on the following weekends:   1st - Men; 2nd - Women; 3rd - No meeting (*For those who are parents, we will be attending UR Parenting); 4th - All-together (Men, Women, and Kids). Men and women meetings will be a biblical study of a topic; all-together meetings will be a connection and social time.  We'll also be incorporating service projects as a group during the year.

8.  Threads      

Every Thursday, 7:00 PM, Mpls

We are a group of people in their 20's and 30's who want to connect and build relationships with each other and in the church through sermon discussions, Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and volunteering. We are open to singles and married couples, but we do not provide childcare.

9.  One For All, All For One       

Every Thursday, 7:00 PM, Urban Refuge     

This small group is open to all. Whether you are single, married, new to a relationship with Christ or if you have been journeying with Christ for some time. Married with children are also welcome though it will be the responsibility of parents to work out the details for the children. We will dive into God’s word via questions around the message each week or the study of one of the books of the bible. Prayer for one another and others will be an important aspect of our time. Together we will seek to find ways to serve others as a small group.

 

Married Couples


10.  Friday Night Fellowship

2x/Month, Friday, 6:30 PM, N & S Mpls       

We meet as a large group to eat potluck style and fellowship twice a month. We also meet periodic for men's and women's evenings. We spend time in worship with song, scripture, prayer and sharing God's work in our lives. Join us on the first and third Friday of the month. Children are welcome.

11.  Let's Do Life Together

2x/Month, Sunday, 12:30 PM, S Mpls               

This is a family friendly small group. We'll meet twice a month after church and have a light lunch together. We want this to be a place where we can talk honestly about life...the highs, the lows and what it means to walk with the Lord. We will talk about the sermon as part of our time together, but if we spend our time talking about life, then that is ok too. Kids are welcome, although no childcare is provided.

12.  Marriage Matters       

Various Sundays*, 5:30 PM, Mpls/Richfield

Marriage can be wonderful and difficult at the same time. Are you hitting roadblocks in your marriage? We'll be digging in and working toward improving our relationships as married couples. *We'll meet once a month as couples, once as just gals, once as just men, and one time a month will be you as a couple meeting on your own to walk through an assigned "communication date." We'll be discussing and working through topics such as handling conflict, building emotional intimacy, growing in our faith journey, physical intimacy, and finances.

13.  Cozy Nook

Every Sunday, 6:00 PM, Edina

Exploring parenting and marriage through Christ and fellowship. Children welcome, childcare provided when needed. Will alternate between large group meetings and men or women breakouts.

14.  Anchored       

Every Sunday, 6:00 PM, S Mpls       

Group discussions center around developing a personal relationship with Jesus, strong marriages, parenting (mostly preschool and elementary children) and serving vulnerable children through Safe Families for Children and foster care. Our group meets mostly on Sunday evenings, though several times throughout the year this varies due to work schedules and social events. We often alternate men and women meeting separately. We do not offer childcare for any meetings.
